Project Overview
CoffeeCup.tech is my professional website and the main platform through which I present my technical documentation expertise, consulting services, client portfolio, and research into the future of documentation.
I completely redesigned the bilingual English–French website to reflect the evolution of my positioning toward technical documentation strategy, documentation architecture, docs-as-code, API documentation, knowledge management, and AI applied to technical content.
Although this was an internal project for my own business, I approached it with the same level of analysis, structure, testing, and documentation quality that I apply to client assignments.
Context
The previous version of CoffeeCup.tech no longer fully reflected the evolution of my expertise or the increasing role of documentation architecture, docs-as-code, knowledge management, and AI in my work.
The project therefore went beyond a visual redesign. It required a complete review of the site's positioning, information architecture, navigation, content hierarchy, multilingual structure, metadata, and search visibility.
The objective was to create a professional documentation website that could:
- present my services and experience clearly;
- support different user journeys, including prospective clients and recruiters;
- showcase selected projects and detailed portfolio examples;
- publish long-form content on technical documentation and AI;
- improve SEO and visibility in generative search environments;
- provide a structured and reliable content source for both human visitors and AI systems.
Key Deliverables
Website Strategy, Documentation Platform & Visual Identity
I completely rethought CoffeeCup.tech to align the website with my current positioning in technical documentation strategy, docs-as-code, API documentation, knowledge management, and AI-ready content.
The redesign covered not only the site structure and messaging, but also its visual identity. I developed a new design system and used image-generation tools to explore and refine visual concepts, including the logo, mascot, and supporting illustrations. The aim was to create a distinctive identity that remained professional, coherent, and closely connected to the CoffeeCup.tech brand.
I also migrated the website from Hugo to Docusaurus. Docusaurus is my preferred framework for documentation websites, and this project gave me the opportunity to explore it in greater depth through a real-world redesign. I worked on navigation, reusable components, bilingual content, taxonomy, metadata, theming, and custom React and CSS elements.
The resulting architecture was designed to:
- clarify the positioning and services;
- support distinct journeys for clients, recruiters, and documentation professionals;
- structure the portfolio, profile, services, and editorial content consistently;
- improve multilingual navigation, discoverability, and long-term maintainability.
This work transformed the website into both a professional showcase and a practical example of a modern docs-as-code documentation platform.
Docs-as-Data, SEO & GEO
A major part of the redesign focused on treating the website not only as a collection of pages, but as a structured and reusable data corpus.
I reviewed how the site's content, metadata, terminology, hierarchy, internal links, and structured data could be interpreted by both search engines and generative AI systems. The objective was to make the website easier to find, understand, and cite, while preserving a clear and useful experience for human readers.
This work included:
- aligning content structure, terminology, and key phrases with human and AI queries;
- strengthening metadata, authority signals, internal links, and semantic consistency;
- defining structured data for pages, articles, services, and professional identity;
- using front matter as a single source of truth for multilingual metadata and JSON-LD generation.
The project became a practical implementation of my “docs-as-data” approach: documentation is not only content to be read, but a governed and maintainable knowledge asset that can be indexed, retrieved, reused, and interpreted by search engines, RAG systems, and generative AI.
AI tools were used selectively to challenge formulations, compare alternatives, and support review or localization tasks. The strategic direction, content model, metadata architecture, editorial choices, and final validation remained under my responsibility.
My Role
I led the project end to end, combining documentation strategy, information architecture, multilingual content, SEO/GEO, and documentation website implementation.
Working independently, I used AI selectively as a thought partner to challenge ideas and explore alternatives, while retaining full responsibility for the strategy, accuracy, and final decisions.
