Pricing Philosophy and Working Conditions

Working with a documentation consultant should feel clear, structured, and predictable.
This page explains how I collaborate with teams, how projects are framed, and how pricing is determined.

It complements the details provided on each individual service page.

1. First Contact & Project Scoping

All collaborations start with an initial contact by email ✉️. No phone call.

Once I understand your context and needs, we schedule one or more calls to clarify the scope: product complexity, documentation maturity, tools, workflows, stakeholders, and expected deliverables.

At the end of this phase, I prepare a written estimate & proposal that outlines the scope, the number of days required, the mission structure, and the expected timeline.

This ensures transparency and alignment before the work begins.

2. Pricing Philosophy

I don't use per-word or per-page pricing.
Documentation quality depends on judgment, clarity, consistency, and technical understanding — not on volume.

My pricing reflects:

  • The level of expertise required
  • The complexity of the product
  • The maturity of the existing documentation
  • The degree of rewriting or restructuring needed
  • The governance level expected (strategy, workflows, stakeholder coordination)
  • Any on-site presence required
  • Your payment terms and administrative constraints

Pricing is expressed as: daily rate × number of days.
Each mission is unique, and the days required depend on the scope, tools, and documentation state.

About AI

Please note that I do not offer discounted pricing on the basis of using AI tools.

AI does not replace expertise: it accelerates certain tasks under human control, but it still requires analysis, validation, rewriting, and judgment from an experienced technical writer.
Using AI responsibly is not "free" work — it is guided, verified, and integrated by a senior expert.

Subcontracting

I prefer to work directly with the final client whenever possible.

For subcontracted missions, I only accept collaborations with a maximum of one level between me and the end client, in order to maintain clarity, context, and efficient communication.

Multiple intermediary layers also tend to significantly extend payment timelines, which is not sustainable for a sole proprietorship.
For these reasons, I do not accept missions with more than one level of subcontracting.

3. Tools, Environment & Working Conditions

I work with my own hardware and software, unless your company requires me to use a corporate laptop or specific tooling.

I can work within:

  • Your repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Microsoft Azure...)
  • Your documentation platform (Docusaurus, GitHub Docs, Confluence, Notion, Hugo, MkDocs…)
  • Your localization workflow
  • Your AI policies and approved tools
  • Your team rituals and communication channels

My goal is to integrate seamlessly into your workflow while maintaining the efficiency of my own toolchain.

Smart Services and Embedded Consulting.

4. On-Site Presence

Embedded Consulting may include a partial on-site presence when needed for onboarding or team integration.

However, I only work on-site within my geographical area: Paris (central, southern and western), France.

All other missions are conducted fully remotely.

5. Confidentiality & AI Policy Compliance

I strictly respect your company's policies on:

  • Confidentiality
  • Security
  • Information management
  • AI-assisted tooling

When working inside your environment, I only use AI tools explicitly approved by your organization, and I never expose internal or sensitive data to external services.

All documentation work remains human-led, compliant, and validated by me.

When we work together, you can expect:

  • Clear communication
  • Structured documentation plans
  • Predictable project phases
  • Transparent estimates
  • Professional-quality deliverables
  • Long-term maintainability
